For the Dough:

  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) instant dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (not hot)
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (softened)

For the Garlic Butter Filling:

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (chopped) or 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Optional Topping:

  • 1 tbsp melted butter + pinch of garlic powder (for brushing after baking)

👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prepare the Dough

  • In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5–10 mins until frothy.
  • Add flour, salt, and softened butter. Mix and knead for about 8–10 mins until smooth and elastic.
  • Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

2. Make Garlic Butter

  • Mix melted butter with minced garlic and parsley. Set aside.

3. Roll & Fill

  • Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle (~10×14 inches).
  • Brush the garlic butter over the dough.
  • Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan evenly.

4. Shape the Rolls

  • Roll up tightly like a jelly roll from the longer side.
  • Slice into 9 equal pieces and place into a greased 9-inch baking dish or round pan.

5. Second Rise

  • Cover and let the rolls rise again for 20–30 minutes while oven preheats to 180°C / 350°F.

6. Bake

  • Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown and bubbling.

7. Finish

Brush with melted garlic butter if desired. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
